Bowie State Football Opens Season on the Road
The Bulldogs Begin the 2024-25 season against the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears

(BOWIE, Md.) - Football season is upon us, and the Bowie State Bulldogs will head on the road to start their season against the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears in Hickory, NC.
"We're excited to meet the challenges this new season presents for us," said head coach Kyle Jackson. "It's all about taking that next step forward as a team."
The Bulldogs return a pair of signal callers that both have starting experience. Junior quarterback Amir Jenkins led the Bulldogs in passing last season with 1,099 yards and five touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury against Virginia Union University on Oct. 14, 2023. Sophomore quarterback Jordan Morse stepped in to relieve Jenkins and piloted the Bulldogs to three wins while finishing with 575 yards passing and six touchdowns.
On defense, the Bulldogs return senior defensive lineman Shawan Lewis, who led Bowie State in total tackles (45), tackles for loss (12) and sacks (7.5). Graduate student Hasan Mosley led all defensive backs with four interceptions last season.
The Bulldogs will look to harness the momentum that saw them win their last three games and finish 6-4 on the year. Preseason polls have the Bulldogs finishing fifth in the conference for the 2024-25 season.
The Bulldogs will be back at Bulldog Stadium the following week on Sept. 14 for their first home game of the fall against the Davenport University Panthers.
