The Department of Education has launched a public appointments competition to appoint a Chairperson to the Board of the Education Authority (EA).
Announcing the competition to fill the role, Education Minister Paul Givan said: "This is an important moment in education as I am setting a new and exciting transformation agenda for our education system for the next generation.
"The new EA Chairperson will have the opportunity to help take forward this transformation and make real and impactful change to the lives of children, young people and their families in Northern Ireland."
The EA is a non-departmental body sponsored by the Department of Education. It is responsible for ensuring that efficient and effective primary and secondary education services are available to meet the needs of children and young people, and support for the provision of efficient and effective youth services.
The Minister continued: "The post of Chairperson of the Education Authority requires vision, strategic thinking and strong collaborative and engagement skills to enhance the education experience of our children and young people.
"The EA Chairperson should be a champion and public-facing advocate for the Authority and education as a whole, as we make the case for greater investment in our education system. I encourage anyone who has an interest in public service and wants to directly make a positive difference for children and young people in our society, to apply."
