Statement by Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi on the passing of Twinkle Borge, leader of Pu'uhonua O Wai'anae

HONOLULU - The following statement is attributable to Mayor Rick Blangiardi regarding the passing of Twinkle Borge:

"It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Twinkle Borge, the visionary, steadfast leader of the Pu'uhonua O Wai'anae homeless encampment near the Wai'anae Boat Harbor. Twinkle was a beacon of hope and a powerful advocate for our houseless community.

She was more than just a leader; she was an inspiration and a relentless advocate who believed in every person's potential. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and community building will continue to inspire us all.

On behalf of the City and County of Honolulu, I extend my deepest condolences to Twinkle's family, friends, and the entire Pu'uhonua O Wai'anae community. Her loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her."
