Carrefour's Position on European Regulation 2023/1115 on Combating Deforestation and Forest Degradation (EUDR Regulation)
Since the preparation of the EUDR Regulation, Carrefour has supported the adoption of ambitious regulations to combat imported deforestation.
Carrefour has been committed for many years to fighting deforestation within its supply chains, and this regulation represents a real step forward by aiming to ensure fair competition and requiring all players to adhere to traceability and biodiversity protection standards.
While the implementation of this regulation poses logistical and technical challenges, Carrefour is ready to adapt its operations.
The Group upholds the voluntary objectives it has set in light of the risks identified within its supply chains, even with a one-year delay. Carrefour emphasizes the importance of implementing this regulation without delays or modifications to its initial framework to provide stability and clarity for all committed companies.
Carrefour welcomes the progress already made, such as the tools and clarification documents, which facilitate the integration of these requirements into its internal processes.
