Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge opens ahead of schedule

CHILLICOTHE - A project to rehabilitate the driving surface of the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge has been completed 13 days ahead of schedule. Originally slated for a 30-day closure beginning September 23, the project wrapped up in just 17 days.

"I appreciate everyone's patience as we made these improvements. We knew this project would be a big disruption for people on both sides of the Ohio River. We really appreciate the hard work of the contractor to complete this vital work safely and ahead of schedule," said Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director Mike Dombrowski.

Delivering this successful project ahead of schedule ensures people and goods can move safely and easily throughout the region. This bridge is more than a transportation structure, it serves as ODOT's commitment to connecting communities and improving the quality of life for residents and businesses on both sides of the river.

With an expected lifespan of 80 years, the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge will continue to serve the community for generations to come.

The $813,529 project to restore the driving surface of the bridge was completed by Complete General Construction Company.
