Saint Francis University welcomed First Responders from across the state on Oct. 25, 2024 for the 3rd Annual First Responders Day. It was the university's largest First Responders Day celebration, with almost 20 organizations from the fire service, law enforcement, and emergency medical services participating.

During the morning on Friday, the SFU Campus Mall transformed into a showcase of public safety expertise. SFU students and Loretto community members had a chance to test equipment and learn about law enforcement and emergency services careers. Afterward, participants were invited to a First Responders mass at the Immaculate Conception Chapel and an appreciation lunch to thank them for their service.

Thank you to all of the participating organizations:

SFU began hosting First Responders Day in 2022 as a thank you to the men and women whose dedication and sacrifice to keep communities safe. This year's event was hosted by SFU's Criminal Justice Club with the help of Dr. Don Miles (SFU Residence Life), Dr. Mark Buckwalter (SFU Criminal Justice Program), and Chief Brian Ianuzzi (SFU Police). Organizers also hope this event will inspire people to volunteer with first responder organizations and encourage SFU students to pursue a career in public safety.
