Lord Mayor James Geoghegan opens Book of Condolence for Nell McCafferty

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, James Geoghegan has opened a Book of Condolence for the people of Dublin to extend their sympathies to the family of Nell McCafferty.

The Book of Condolence will be available to sign at the Mansion House as follows:

  • Wednesday 21st August, 2024 2pm - 5pm
  • Thursday 22nd August, 2024 10am - 5pm

The Book of Condolence will also be available to sign online and will be open from today, Wednesday 21st August, until Sunday 1st September, 2024 on the Dublin City Council website at the following link:https://consultation.dublincity.ie/lord-mayor/copy-of-book-of-condolence-nell-mccafferty/. All messages of sympathy will be printed and forwarded in the Book of Condolence to the family of Nell McCafferty.

Lord Mayor,James Geoghegan said, "I was saddened to hear of the death of Nell McCafferty this morning. On behalf of the people of Dublin, I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to her family, friends and colleagues. Nell will be remembered for her long-standing commitment to social justice and women's rights. She used her voice as a journalist and campaigner to call out injustice and inequality and will be remembered as one of the trail blazers for equality for women in Ireland. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam."
