October has arrived!

With autumn officially here, now is the ideal time to step outside and enjoy one of the many festivals, celebrations and activities taking place in our region. From outdoor art festivals to the popular cardboard canoe regatta hosted by our Parks and Recreation Division, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Orange County Community Conference returns this month and represents a great opportunity to get involved in your neighborhood. This in-person event will be held at the Orange County Multicultural Center on Saturday, October 12, at 8 a.m. Attendees will enjoy informative sessions, workshops and engaging speakers throughout the day.

We also celebrate our diverse and inclusive community this month with the return of Come Out with Pride Orlando. This year's event includes the Most Colorful Parade, live performances, kid zones and a fireworks show at the end of the night. You can learn more inside this newsletter.

With all the wonderful activities this month, I want to gently remind residents that we remain in hurricane season until the end of next month, so please remain vigilant about storms. We were fortunate to sustain minimal damage from Hurricane Helene.

Finally, I encourage everyone to be safe and have fun this Halloween by accompanying trick-or-treaters as they go door to door. Be cautious when crossing streets, stick to well-lit areas and remember to drive carefully in residential neighborhoods.

Sincerely,

Jerry L. Demings
Orange County Mayor
