Shooting Incident

The Maui Police Department is investigating a fatal incident that occurred on Monday, September 16, 2024, at approximately 12:05 a.m., near the intersection of Honoapiilani Highway and Waiolu Place in Waikapu.

The incident led to the death of the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Shawn Lewis (42) of Lahaina. The Maui Police Department extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Lewis' family and friends. The cause of death is pending autopsy.

Our investigators are actively working to determine the sequence of events.
