Students from the University of Wyoming's Haub School of Natural Resources, as well as student veterans with the Haub School's Green to Green program for mentoring military veterans, recently joined Gov. Mark Gordon for his signing of a National Hunting and Fishing Day proclamation for 2024.
The students were invited to see the governor sign the proclamation and network with conservation leaders in Wyoming in the Sept. 28 event at the Cheyenne Trap and Skeet Club, where clay target shooting was part of the festivities.
UW faculty members Dan McCoy and Kelly Dunning accompanied the UW students to promote the outdoor recreation and tourism management degree program in the Haub School.
Support came from the Congressional Sportsmen and Women's Foundation, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.
The governor's proclamation noted the important link between hunters and anglers, whose license fees fund Wyoming's conservation activities for fish, wildlife and habitat.
