One man is dead and another person remains in the hospital in critical condition following a weekend shooting.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, a Huntsville Police officer was patrolling in the 3300 block of Meridian Street heard multiple gun shots. Several officers responded to a gas station at 3310 Meridian Street and found Damien Obrien Manning, 22, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD was notified by Huntsville Hospital around 10 p.m. that a second gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital. The individual was transported by a personal vehicle for treatment and is in critical condition.

The HPD Major Crimes Unit is investigating several leads but believe several individuals fired shots from opposing sides of the parking lot, putting others in danger.

The incident remains under investigation.
