Participants in the boxing program ages 8-25 will compete at Ada, Fuller, and Brooks Parks
Patrons of all ages are welcome to take a seat in the bleachers, and cheer on competitors that hail from 18 Chicago Park District gyms citywide during the Boxing Showcases. Visitors can expect to see coaches, parents, family members and neighbors present and cheering at each stop throughout the Citywide Boxing series. Up to 20 Chicago Park District boxing program participants ages 8 to 25 will step into the ring each evening, while a referee and three judges will officiate and score each bout.
WHERE/WHEN:
The Citywide Boxing Shows take place from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Chicago Park District boxing program offers instruction to patrons ages 8 and older at 18 gyms located within neighborhood fieldhouses. Citywide Boxing showcases offer a chance for local amateur athletes to elevate their skills with officiated bouts within iconic neighborhood venues. The three taking place this October are the last three shows of the 2024 citywide boxing series.
Each match features three 60-second rounds, unless a knockout decision is made by a referee. Roughly 10 bouts take place at each show, depending on the length of each bout. Those interested in Chicago Park District boxing still have time to register for the fall programming session, which started September 3, 2024, and will culminate December 8, 2024. Boxing is an excellent way to execute a cardiovascular workout routine while learning the intangible skills of patience, sportsmanship, and discipline.
