IFAW responds to help animals in the wake of Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl is currently hitting Jamaica, after high winds and flooding from the deadly Category 4 storm have left damaged and destroyed communities across Venezuela, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada. Haiti and Yucatan Peninsula are next in the hurricane's path.

We are in close contact with our partners, including The Animal House Jamaica, Carriacou Animal Hospital in Grenada, and Quintana Roo authorities in Mexico to support urgent animal rescue operations.

In Quintana Roo, IFAW is also opening and managing the temporary shelter for evacuated pets and shelter animals evacuated from Isla Holbox. Working with our partner, our shelter has already provided care and safety for 35 cats. Meanwhile, we've provided shelter kits to local authorities in high-risk communities who may need to care for animals before, during, and after impact and we've posted flyers and banners to raise awareness about evacuating with your animals in high-risk communities.

Our teams will continue to offer emergency support where we can help animals and people the most.
