Team USA and Team Toyota’s Jessica Long Wins Another Gold Medal at Paris 2024

PARIS (Sept. 9, 2024) - Jessica Long added another Paralympic gold medal to her résumé, winning the Women's Para Swimming 100m Butterfly S8 on Saturday to close out the Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Long posted a time of 1:10.59 in the final at Paris La Defense Arena, defeating her competition by over a second.

"It was shocking. I was just so tired," Long said. "Alice (Tai) and I were talking about that in the call room, how tired we were. I had no idea where anyone was so when I touched the wall, and you see me quickly turn. I was like 'I won?' I had no idea. It was amazing."

The victory in the Women's 100m Butterfly S8 is the second gold medal Long has captured at Paris as she also won the Women's Swimming 400m freestyle S8 event. Long now has 31 total Paralympic medals to her name as she returns to the U.S. after the Paralympic Games 2024.
