Troopers respond to crash on 81 in Tully

On September 9, 2024, at approximately 6:48 p.m., New York State Police at Homer responded to a crash on Interstate 81 in Tully, where a vehicle became engulfed in flames.

An investigation at the scene revealed that a BMW X3 was traveling south on I-81 when it began to hydroplane in the passing lane when the operator lost control and crossed into the center grass median. The vehicle then continued into the northbound lanes and collided head on with a tractor trailer. The BMW became fully engulfed in flames.

The operator of the BMW, Praisy A. Gurjar, age 29 of Mahwah, NJ and her 32-year-old male passenger of Pittsford, NY were not injured.

The operator of the tractor trailer, Marcos Lemuel Burgado Medina, age 32 of Whitehall, PA was also not injured.

Troopers were assisted on scene by members of the Preble Fire Department, Tully Fire Department, Homer Fire Department, and TLC.
