Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Charleswood Road

Released: June 28, 2024 at 6:26 p.m.
Winnipeg, MB- At 3:19 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family home in the 1300 block of Charleswood Road.

When crews arrived, they located fire within an exterior wall, behind concrete steps. They worked to gain access to the fire in order to extinguish it. The fire was declared under control at 4 p.m.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental. It's believed that injection foam being used to lift the concrete staircase caused an exothermic (chemical) reaction and ignited.

All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated from the house. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
