Work to rebuild I-27 frontage roads scheduled to begin on Monday

LUBBOCK -Work to rebuild the northbound I-27 frontage road at Yucca Lane bridge is scheduled to begin Monday, August 19. The work will require the frontage road to be closed and traffic detoured around the area.

Crews will begin closing the frontage road starting at 9 a.m. Monday by closing the northbound Exit 7 to Yucca Lane. Lubbock Business Park Boulevard and North Ash Avenue traffic will also no longer have access to the frontage road.

Both north and southbound I-27 traffic needing to access Lubbock Business Park Boulevard will be detoured to the eastbound Loop 289 frontage road, then directed to northbound Martin L. King, Jr. Boulevard (MKL) to connect with Lubbock Business Park.

Traffic leaving Lubbock Business Park will be directed back to MLK. Traffic wanting to connect with either north- or southbound I-27 will need to take MLK either north to FM 2641 (Regis Street) or south to Loop 289 then west to connect with I-27.

The work is part of a $24.3 million project to improve mobility along I-27 in Lubbock County by rebuilding the Yucca Lane bridge.
