Refurbishing public toilets and bowling pavilion at Stafford park

21/11/2024

A £20,000 investment to improve public facilities at a park in Stafford has been completed.

The upgrade to the public toilets (pictured) at Rowley Park includes new sinks, flooring, and vanity units, as well as a fresh coat of paint. These improvements have been prioritised to enhance the overall visitor experience at Rowley Park.

Rowley Park is managed by Freedom Leisure, on behalf of Stafford Borough Council.

In addition to the toilets refurbishment, The Rowley Park Bowls Pavilion is set for a revival after being damaged in 2023. This restoration project has been made possible by a collaboration between the dedicated team at Rowley Park and Burton Manor Bowls Club, led by Club Secretary Mr Alan Hancock, who has been instrumental in guiding the project. Thanks to generous donations from the bowls club, the renovations are scheduled to commence this month (November). The Rowley Park team and local bowlers are eagerly anticipating the completion of this work, which will bring a refreshed look and feel to the Pavilion in time for the 2025 bowling season.

Ross Stephenson, Operations Manager for Rowley Park said: "Both projects highlight Rowley Park's ongoing commitment to maintaining and upgrading its facilities, ensuring that it remains a welcoming and enjoyable space for all members of the community."

Alan Hancock, Club Secretary for Burton Manor Bowls Club said "Having experienced several years of playing bowls in Rowley Park, we as a Bowls Club are delighted to see the improvements already undertaken by Freedom Leisure, i.e. Upgrading Toilets, and are really looking forward to the completion of the refurbishment of the bowls pavilion during the winter break. This is an exciting milestone for Burton Manor Bowls Club which further enhances our partnership with Freedom Leisure for the benefit of bowlers and the local community at large."

The park is open 7am-9pm every day for public use. For more details please visit our website www.freedom-leisure.co.uk/centres/rowleypark
