Work And Lane Restrictions Continue July 29-Oct. 13

Roadway improvements will continue on Vegas Drive/Owens Avenue between Rancho Drive and Interstate 15 through Oct. 13, 2024. Vegas Drive will have lane restrictions between Rancho Drive and Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard, with one through lane to be maintained for east- and westbound traffic. Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard at Vegas Drive/Owens Avenue will be limited to one through lane for north- and southbound traffic. Rancho Drive also will have one through lane for northbound traffic at Vegas Drive. Roadwork and lane restrictions on Owens Avenue between Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard and I-15 are expected to continue through Aug. 9, 2024.

Primary work activities include milling, installation of traffic signal loop detectors, paving, raising utilities and installation of roadway delineations. Work activities will take place approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday; however, lane restrictions generally will remain in place around the clock. Milling and paving operations on Vegas Drive will be performed for approximately three weeks out of the 11-week period, subject to weather and equipment availability.

Washington Avenue or Lake Mead Boulevard are recommended alternate routes for east- and westbound traffic. Tonopah and H Street are recommended alternate routes for north- and southbound traffic.

Preliminary work was completed, consisting of improvements to the sidewalk areas to meet federal requirements for the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the reconstruction of concrete cross gutter, curb and gutter.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work on Vegas Drive is $ 1.4 million, and $1.3 million on Owens Avenue, both funded by the Federal Highway Administration and matched with Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax revenues.
