Rep. Tony Gonzales Announces Over $12 Million for Border Security in South and West Texas

Today, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced over $12 million in federal funding for border security through Operation Stonegarden. This federal grant program provides funding to local and state law enforcement agencies to partner with Border Patrol against human and drug smuggling. Congressman Gonzales has fiercely advocated for Operation Stonegarden funding through his position on the House Appropriations Committee and helped secure a total of $81 million for the program in Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24).

"Operation Stonegarden is a lifeline for our Border Patrol Agents on the front lines who rely on law enforcement to help them curtail cartel activity and assist in border security efforts," said Congressman Tony Gonzales. "Over $12 million in grant funding was awarded to 17 counties and two tribes in South and West Texas to purchase new equipment and compensate law enforcement personnel for working long hours in the wake of the border crisis. I have fought hard to strengthen this critical grant program through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee. Keeping our communities safe requires an all-hands-on-deck approach-I look forward to seeing the results of this funding in action."
