MoDOT KC to host Public Meeting for MO 291 River Bridges over Missouri River, Oct. 22

The public meeting will take place from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.

JACKSON COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation Kansas City (MoDOT KC) will hold an open house style meeting to discuss the MO Route 291 northbound and southbound bridges over the Missouri River. The project will include replacement of the northbound bridge and rehabilitation of the southbound bridge. The northbound bridge (Liberty Bend Bridge) has been in use since 1949 and while safe, it is scheduled to be replaced to meet current design standards. The southbound bridge was built in 2001 and is scheduled for improvements. This project will address the condition of the northbound bridge and provide maintenance on the southbound bridge.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 22 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Mike Onka Memorial Building, 11520 Putnam Street, Sugar Creek, MO 64054. The meeting will provide the opportunity for attendees to ask questions, learn more about the project, and leave a comment. This meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss potential impacts to LaBenite Park. The meeting will be an open house meeting with no formal presentation.

Following the public meeting there will also be an opportunity to view project displays and exhibits and leave comments on the project webpage beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 5.
