TROPICAL STORM YAGI IN LUZON, PHILIPPINES


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Yagi in Luzon, Philippines. The storm made landfall in the eastern town of Casiguran, Aurora Province, on 2 September 2024. As of 3 September 2024, the centre of the storm has moved to the coastal waters off the northern city of Laoag in Ilocos Province. The storm had sustained winds of 75 km/h and is expected to move northwest over the South China Sea in the coming days.


As of 4:00 p.m. local time on 3 September 2024, no Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by the tropical storm.


Malaysians in the affected areas are urged to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities. Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are strongly encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my.
