Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces embassy and consular appointments

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today announced four appointments-two women and two men-to Mexico's diplomatic posts in Jordan, Miami, New Orleans, and Calexico. These diplomats will be responsible for safeguarding Mexico's rights and interests, and for providing protection and assistance to Mexicans abroad, in accordance with Mexico's foreign policy as set forth in the Constitution of the United Mexican States.

The four appointments are:

  • Jacob Prado González, Mexican Foreign Service ambassador, to the Embassy of Mexico in Jordan
  • Rutilio Escandón Cadenas, former governor of Chiapas, to the Consulate General in Miami, Florida
  • María Noemí Hernández Téllez, Mexican Foreign Service minister, to the Consulate in New Orleans, Louisiana
  • María del Rocío Vázquez Álvarez, Mexican Foreign Service counselor, to the Consulate in Calexico, California.

The presidential appointments for the ambassador and consul general have been sent to the Senate for confirmation.
