Halloween may have been last night, but here's one final frightful tale for the spooky season.
There are stories of hauntings and supernatural occurrences that whisper among the Shaker Cemetery graves. Simon Meisel '24 combed through documents and collected stories, and in collaboration with the executive director of the Shaker Heritage Society, Meisel, along with Krysta Dennis, Ph.D., associate professor of creative arts, wrote Manifestations: A Shaker Ghost Tour. The museum theatre experience chronicles deaths, drama, and the era of manifestations and tuberculosis.
This Halloween season, James Kelly '25 and Hassan Laing '27 acted as tour guides, and tapping into some captivating storytelling, took guests from an old meeting house, to a workshop, around a pond, and ended at the Shaker cemetery, where attendees visited the graves of the cast of characters they encountered along the way.
Happy Halloween!
