League City Parkway Extension Now Open

A new portion of FM 96 that connects League City with Friendswood was officially opened this week at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, July 15. League City Mayor Nick Long and Friendswood Mayor Mike Foreman helped open the extension of League City Parkway which begins at Cones Lane and connects to Friendswood Lakes Blvd. The road is four lanes with two lanes in each direction and a center median.

The new east-west connector road will allow for improved mobility in the western portion of League City. Eventually, a sidewalk will be added on each side, allowing for pedestrian and bike traffic.

"As we are adding more and more subdivisions, it is important that we build out these arterial roadways to lower the traffic on other busy League City roadways such as FM 518 and FM 646," said Mayor Nick Long.

The connector road was constructed and paid for by Hillwood Development, which is building the new Legacy subdivision on the south side of League City Parkway just west of the Westwood subdivision.
