BOYLE STATEMENT ON HELPING LAND LARGEST COMPETITIVE GRANT IN SEPTA HISTORY

WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the statement below following SEPTA board members' decision to utilize Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funds to replace the transit agency's aging rail car fleet:

"I personally fought hard for this infrastructure funding that will bring as many as 240 new rail passenger cars to the Market-Frankford Line-a line that has seen significant delays due to outdated cars. I am proud to have played a key role in helping SEPTA land what is the 'largest competitive grant in SEPTA's history." More than $300 million of the roughly $848 million price tag SEPTA will incur will be taken directly from a federal grant program established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-which I was proud to negotiate and support.. This investment underscores my commitment to modernizing public transportation and ensures safer and more reliable service for the commuters of Philadelphia."
