Nashville Department of Emergency Communications Deploys Communications Leader to East Tennessee

The Nashville Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) has sent a Communications Leader (COML) to East Tennessee to help with the ongoing response to Hurricane Helene's devastation.

Nashville DEC Supervisor Barbara Boske, a credentialed COML with 16 years of experience in emergency communications, arrived in East Tennessee this morning. She is now responsible for managing communications among state, local, and federal agencies coordinated out of the Carter County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Boske will remain assigned to the Carter County EOC for the next 7 to 14 days.

This deployment was made possible by an official request made through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). EMAC is a mutual aid agreement among U.S. states and territories that allows states to share resources during natural and man-made disasters, including terrorism.

DEC always ensures there are enough staff and resources to handle any events that may arise whenever supporting outside agencies.
