This summer Hormel Foods proudly welcomes the 2024 class of inspired interns to its award-winning summer internship program. The company hosts more than 90 college students who represent over 50 colleges and universities throughout the United States.
  • Wyatt Fackler, production management intern, Austin (Minnesota) Plant

Wyatt spent his week learning about the importance of food safety and all the considerations that go into ensuring safe products.

"It was good to see the lengths this organization will go to, even if it is just to double check."

His favorite project from this week focused on yield improvement for bite-sized pepperoni, and he was given the opportunity to work with team members Hsae and Ei. Wyatt's favorite Hormel Foods product is Thuringer sausage.

  • Deep Shah, supply chain intern, Corporate Office (Austin, Minnesota)

Deep spent his week learning about how to sort data pertaining to truckloads of products and how to tell if carriers are late on deliveries. He also worked with requests for proposals (RFPs) and
spent time becoming familiar with the bidding process.

"This is the second year Hormel Foods is doing this, and I am happy to be part of it," he said.

Deep's favorite Hormel Foods product is Planters® salted peanuts.

  • Marisol Martinez, accounting intern, Austin (Minnesota) Plant

Marisol learned this week that the Annex (Austin, Minnesota) produces all the spices for Hormel Foods products. She also worked on itemized yield requests and gained insight on where the company has room for improvement.

"I love doing cycle counts every Monday. Best way to start out my week!" she said.

Marisol's favorite Hormel Foods product is Skippy® P.B. Bites.

  • John Roeseler, human resources intern, Corporate Office (Austin, Minnesota)

John spent a week at the Austin (Minnesota) Plant to gain a deeper understanding of business units in the company. His favorite project this week was working with the Austin Plant safety manager to learn about safety practices that are put in place to ensure the well-being of our team members.

"I am thankful for this opportunity to understand our business more because these experiences will allow me to understand our team members more," he said.

John's favorite Hormel Foods product is Jennie-O® turkey bacon.
