Comedian, show host, actor, author, and voiceover artist Dulcé Sloan has been named in an Emmy nomination for The Daily Show this year.

Sloan, who graduated from The Women's College at Brenau University in 2005, is part of The Daily Show team nominated in the Outstanding Talk Series category. Sloan is listed in the nomination among the show's hosts.

"Look at God! Ya girl got nominated for an Emmy for HOSTING @thedailyshow! Lil ole me! Thank you Lord!" Sloan said on her social media platforms after being nominated.

Sloan has been an active part of The Daily Show since 2017, hosting after the departure of Trevor Noah in 2020. Sloan's Daily Show appearances have been big hits, with segments like "911 for White People Emergencies," "Dumb Solutions to Policing Problems" and "Black Karen" getting millions of collective views on YouTube after airing on TV.

Fans will recognize her comedic talents and unique voice in shows like The Great North on FOX, movies like 2020's Chick Fight, and her 2019 Comedy Central Presents special, in addition to her stand-up shows across the country. She is a two-time NAACP Image Award winner and has been named a comedian to watch by numerous publications. She recently wrote a memoir, Hello Friends!, documenting her life and experiences in comedy so far. She also has a podcast and has a beauty business on the side.

Sloan may be busy on the stage and screen, but she makes time for her Sloan Scholars: Brenau theater students of color. Established in 2023, the Dulcé Sloan Scholarship Program offers both funding and personal mentorship by the rising star.

"I'm doing it for all people of color to help them stay in the program," Sloan said in a 2023 interview for the Brenau Window. "It's meeting with them two to three times a year to check on them … as well as having them meet with professional actors and showing them how to make their resumes and making sure they have headshots when they graduate. So, really, it's a scholarship fund, but it's also a work-preparedness program."

The scholarship supports four theater students annually.

While at Brenau, Sloan was the first secretary of membership of theater honor society Alpha Psi Omega, focusing on building and retaining members both as a student and an alumna; briefly worked in an on-campus computer lab and spent time as a DJ for the campus radio station WBCX. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in theater performance and minored in Spanish.

In nominations announced July 17, The Daily Show earned three more nods: Outstanding Directing For A Variety Series, Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series, and Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming. The 76th Emmy Awards ceremony is planned for Sept. 15.
