On Thursday, September 26, two of Santa Barbara Airport's Police Officers were presented with special Life-Saving Awards recognizing their exceptional actions while on duty.

Officer Nick Conforti was recognized for his quick response to a choking infant inside the SBA Terminal on July 24, 2023. The infant was found in respiratory arrest and was starting to turn blue. Thanks to his background as a paramedic, Officer Conforti was able to administer aid to revive the baby swiftly and effectively. The infant was transported to the hospital and released a few days later.

Officer Mark Knight received this award for his efforts responding to a person in cardiac arrest on October 23, 2023 inside the SBA rental car lot. After discovering an individual who was unresponsive and without a pulse, Officer Knight deployed an AED and performed active CPR for 12 minutes before assistance arrived. Thanks to his life-saving efforts, the patient was transported to the hospital and was released just a week later.

Thank you, Officer Knight and Officer Conforti, for your dedication to the safety and security of SBA's passengers and the greater community.
