(Houston, TX)-On Friday, November 1, 2024, Congressman Al Green proudly introduced the annual bipartisan initiative, the "Original National Domestic Violence Awareness Month Resolution of 2024," co-led by Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1). This significant bipartisan resolution brings attention to the urgent issue of domestic violence and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities across the nation. The resolution highlights alarming statistics that illustrate the widespread nature of intimate partner violence, which affects people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, race, gender, economic status, or religion. The forms of abuse-ranging from emotional and physical harm to financial exploitation and digital violence-demand immediate action and awareness.
"My colleagues and I remain resolute in our commitment to addressing domestic violence, which is why we are leading the charge to designate October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This initiative serves not only to raise awareness but to convey a vital message to victims and survivors: you are not alone. We must continue to raise awareness, ensure victims and survivors receive the support they deserve, and work tirelessly to drive meaningful change toward a future free of violence."
