On December 1st, 2024, the City of Bellflower and City of Lakewood, in conjunction with Bellflower Unified School District (BUSD) will have the honor of hosting the 605 All-Star Band as they practice for the 136th Rose Parade. The 605 All-Star Band is comprised of approximately 500 students from BUSD and Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District. In preparation for their Rose Parade appearance, students and faculty will conduct a practice march starting at Bellflower High School and ending at Mayfair Park in Lakewood.
The cities of Bellflower and Lakewood, along with the LA County Sheriff's Dept., will be assisting with the parade march by implementing brief road closures throughout the route for the safety of the students and the general public. In Bellflower, the following road segments will be briefly closed to all vehicle traffic and posted for no on-street parking.
ALONDRA BLVD ROAD CLOSURE
Alondra Blvd and Ron Yary Way will be closed to all vehicle traffic between McNab St and Woodruff Ave (including the intersection of Alondra Blvd & Woodruff Ave) starting at XX pm. This closure is expected to be in place for approximately 1 hour to allow students and faculty to exit school property and march west on Alondra Blvd. towards Woodruff Ave.
WOODRUFF AVE ROAD CLOSURE
Woodruff Ave will be closed to all vehicle traffic starting at Alondra Blvd to the south city limit (Rose St). The closure will be done in 3 separate road segments: (1) Alondra Blvd to Flora Vista St; (2) Flora Vista St to Artesia Blvd; and (3) Artesia Blvd to Rose St. During each segment closure, all vehicles will be prohibited from entering or exiting driveways for residential and business properties. Each segment will be immediately opened to vehicle traffic once the parade group safely exits the area, segment closures are expected to take less than 1 hour.
Every effort will be made to ensure the least amount of impact to the surrounding community during the march. Streets and driveways will be closed only as long as necessary to allow safe movement of the band with staff reopening intersections/arterial streets once the band has safely passed. On-street parking will also be prohibited on the east and west side of Woodruff Ave. There will be no enforcement of permit parking areas on this day which will allow for additional parking in surrounding neighborhoods.
