NETL and the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) will post a pre-recorded webinar to provide information on the University Training and Research (UTR) Program and a grant writing discussion.
The UTR Program supports the FECM mission and encompasses the University Carbon Research (UCR) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities and other Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU-MSI) subprograms. These programs seek to educate and train the next generation of engineers and scientists while supporting novel, early-stage research at U.S. colleges and universities. Relevant academic disciplines include, but are not limited to, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), chemistry, physics, mining, geosciences, computer science, education and humanities.
The pre-recorded webinar will be available in November 2024. To obtain a link to the video and presentation please register at the NETL FY24 Events page. There is no cost to register. Although the webinar will be pre-recorded, all schools, universities and other interested parties will be able to submit written questions. There will be a public posting of questions and answers.
Additionally, on Aug. 26, DOE's FECM released a notice of intent to issue notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) DE-FOA-0003215 in support of its UTR Program. Potential areas of interest include 1) Curriculum to grow carbon management education capacity, 2) Critical mineral supply chain career awareness outreach program, 3) Soil carbon sequestration: Establishing technical and social baselines to enable broader adoption and 4) [HBCU-MSI Only] Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Advance Point Source Capture and Train the Next Generation of Engineers.
