Sept. 9, 2024 - We are excited to invite you to celebrate NationalHispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Week at CSUCI from Sept. 9-15. HSI Week is a national, week-long celebration of Hispanic-Serving Institutions and their contributions to their communities.

At CSUCI, we take great pride in our designation as an HSI and are dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students. HSI Week offers us a chance to reflect on our progress, share experiences, and strengthen connections as we work together to uplift our community.

Please join us for a series of engaging events designed to highlight the importance of Servingness on our campus.

Paletas y Películas
Monday, Sept. 9

Joins us for Paletas y Películas as we kick off HSI Week! Enjoy a fun movie experience watching "McFarland, USA," hosted by our HSI Ambassadors. Be sure to cool off with some delicious paletas in this late summer heat. Come connect, relax, and celebrate HSI cultura y comunidad. Everyone is welcome!

Join us as we kick off the 2024-2025 HSI Speaker Pláticas series with a special presentation by our very own Dra. Cynthia Estrada, Assistant Professor in the School of Education. Dra. Estrada will share insights into her scholarship and her personal experiences with Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). This is a great opportunity to learn, engage, and be inspired by the impactful work being done in the HSI community.

Los Gritos featuring El Mercadito
Thursday, September 12^th

This year's Los Gritos y El Mercadito combines the best of both worlds for an unforgettable experience. Shop from 20+ local Latinx businesses and support our vibrant community. Enjoy lively music with a DJ and banda, dance the night away, and indulge in delicious offerings from food trucks. Engage in fun games, enter exciting giveaways, and immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere.

HSI Student Summit: Collaborate to Elevate, Juntos Somos Más
Friday, September 13^th
10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Grand Salon
This inaugural summit is designed to increase awareness of our commitment to Servingness at CSUCI. Through shared experiences, best practices, and community-building activities, we aim to highlight the unique opportunities available to our students and demonstrate how we foster an inclusive and supportive environment.
