Tallahassee State College Welcomes Largest Cohort of New Faculty to Support Record Enrollment Growth

September 9, 2024

Tallahassee State College (TSC) has kicked off the fall semester, welcoming its largest cohort of new faculty members in its history thanks to significant increases in student enrollment and expanded academic offerings.

TSC's student headcount has surpassed 12,000 - the largest class since 2011 - reflecting a 7.2% increase in enrollment. The College also reports a 9.1% increase in credit hours compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by a surge in demand for general education courses and the four new associate in science (A.S.) degrees added for the 2024-25 academic year. The new degree programs are in addition to the five new A.S. degrees and three new bachelor's degrees added last year to meet the evolving needs of the regional workforce.

To accommodate this remarkable growth, TSC has hired 36 new full-time faculty members across multiple disciplines. This new cohort of educators brings a diverse array of expertise and experience, ensuring that TSC students continue to receive the high-quality education and personalized attention that the College is known for.

"Our commitment to student success is at the heart of everything we do at Tallahassee State College," said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of TSC. "The addition of this talented group of faculty members will not only help us manage the increased enrollment but will also enhance the academic experience for our students. We are excited to see the impact they will have on our campus community."

TSC remains dedicated to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education to the Tallahassee community and beyond. The College's continued growth and investment in faculty and academic programs underscore its role as a leading institution in post-secondary education and workforce development.
