Councilmember Tanya Woo to host Chinatown-International District public safety forum on Sept. 11

In response to persistent community concerns about crime and violence, Seattle City Councilmember Tanya Woo (Position 8) will host a forum focused on public safety in the Chinatown-International District (CID). Special guests and panelists will include Council President Sara Nelson (Position 9), Councilmember and Public Safety Committee Chair Bob Kettle (District 7), Seattle Police Chief Sue Rahr and Community Assisted Response and Engagement (CARE) department Chief Amy Barden. The Chong Wa Benevolent Association is co-sponsoring the event.

"Almost daily, I hear concerns from constituents about Seattle's public safety challenges. The ongoing violence and crime in areas like the historic CID are unacceptable," said Councilmember Woo. "This forum is great opportunity to learn about what the City of Seattle officials and this council is doing to improve public safety in our neighborhoods. But more important, it's an opportunity for us to hear from our neighborhood stakeholders. There's so much work that needs to be done to improve public safety and we can't afford to take a step back."
