Delta Thailand Hosts 2024 Collaboration Event with Delta Automation and Power Electronics Partner Universities

Bangkok, Thailand, January 31, 2024 - Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. hosted delegations from seven Thai partner universities at the 2024 Delta University Project Conference with University Consortium held in the company head office in Bangpoo Industrial Estate. The annual event aims to update all partners on the ongoing Delta Automation Lab and the Delta Power Electronics Lab collaborations and explore ways to improve training and R&D to strengthen local talent and innovation development.

Mr. Victor Cheng, Delta Thailand CEO, welcomed the professors and outlined the 2024 plans for the Power Electronics project. "This year, Delta Thailand is entering a new stage of expansion in EV power electronics production and R&D for global customers in support of the government's push for an advanced and value-based economy. After many years of successful participation, I am very happy to announce that we will launch the Delta Cup here in Thailand with plans to expand to Southeast Asia. I also look forward to joining our discussion on the future development of both our Automation Academy as well as our Delta Power Electronics Lab projects in Thailand." Mr. Cheng said.

Mr. Jackie Chang, Delta Thailand President, said, "Delta Thailand is an innovation-driven company that offers unique opportunities for Thai engineering talents. Unlike other electronics manufacturers in the country, our R&D offers local engineers a much broader work scope and opportunities to be involved in the entire product development process. Every year we accept 100 interns to train at Delta Thailand factories. We also are one of the only companies that offers Thai students the opportunity to study at a top Taiwan university and work at our Delta Taiwan factories as exchange students or interns."

Delta managers from Government and Public Affairs (GPA), R&D, Industrial Automation (IA), HR and Corporate Communications presented the company's latest updates and actions related to innovation, business, talent and branding in Thailand. In addition, attending professors from King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Kasetsart University and Burapha University each presented their engineering faculties, Delta labs and joint activities.

Since 2016, Delta has worked with seven Thai partner universities in the Delta Automation Academy with top talents competing at the international Advance Automation Competition or Delta Cup. This year, Delta Thailand and its partner universities also discussed the launch of a regional industrial automation and green solution competition in Thailand to replace the international Delta Cup held in China. This development reflects the growing importance of the Southeast Asia region in global manufacturing and sustainable business operations.

In 2022, Delta Thailand opened its first-ever Power Electronics Lab located at a Thai university, as part of the Thailand Board of Investment's (BOI) merit-based incentives measures, at KMUTNB. In 2023, Delta opened a second Power Electronics Lab at KMITL with plans to open additional labs at partner universities. The Delta Power Electronics Lab aims to provide young Thai engineering talents with world-class testing facilities to develop advanced skills and foster local research of power electronics with Delta's leading power electronics technology and equipment.

Over the past years, Delta has worked with its local partner universities to train approximately 3,000 Thai engineering students and over 30 professors in the Delta Automation Academy. In addition, Delta has provided 5.3 million baht in equipment and facilities to the two Delta Power Electronics Labs with 60 students joining the first Delta Power Electronics Lab at KMUTNB in its first year.
