GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - This week, the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Director Brian L. Love visited Steelcase headquarters in Grand Rapids to award the employer with their Gold-level Veteran-Friendly Employer status.
"Steelcase is the 32nd employer to earn Gold-level with the MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Employer program and we thank them for their commitment to veterans," says MVAA Director Love. "It is vital to the success of Michigan veterans and their families that more employers make the effort to attract and retain veteran talent. Veterans bring unique skills to the job and strengthen the team."
To earn this honor, Steelcase improved their hiring process for veterans and providing National Guard and Reservists with differential pay including ongoing medical coverage if called to active-duty. Additionally, Steelcase created a dedicated space within the headquarter called Steelcase Salutes, for veterans, military spouse and allies to support each other.

Veteran-Friendly Employer program:
The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) recognizes employers that commit to military veteran recruitment, training and retention practices by awarding those employers Gold, Silver and Bronze level status as Veteran-Friendly Employers. MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Employer program helps qualified organizations recruit and retain top veteran talent while providing others a road map to improve their recruitment efforts.
MVAA will assist employers as they develop and improve their efforts to recruit and retain high-quality veteran candidates. Employers who meet the criteria will be publicly recognized and allowed to use the Gold, Silver or Bronze Michigan Veteran-Friendly Employer logo to market themselves to potential veteran applicants.
If your organization would like to be recognized as a Veteran-Friendly Employer, please review the criteria and fill out the Veteran-Friendly Employer Application and submit it. Veteran-Friendly Employers are encouraged to submit their logo, which will be used solely for display on the MVAA webpage showcasing the Veteran-Friendly Employers.
