Mechanisms of State Support for Creative Industries Defined in Uzbekistan

A draft law on creative economy defines ways to support creative industry of Uzbekistan, such as grants, subsidies, benefits, participation in accelerators, fairs, exhibitions, intellectual property protection, and others, reports Podrobno.uz.

The draft law of creative economy was published on the regulatory and legal acts discussion portal.

The law aims to provide conditions and opportunities for citizens to realize their potential in the creative industry based on creation, innovation, and intellectual abilities. The draft law defines terms and concepts related to the creative economy and lists areas of creative activity.

The draft law defines Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan as the authorized body for the development of creative industries in the country.

The draft law also proposes the creation of a List of Creative Industry Entities. It is specified that maintaining the list is intended for informational purposes and cannot be considered as a fact determining or confirming a right. Lists' information is used by competent state bodies in decision-making process related to the provision of benefits and preferences.

The IPA CIS develops the draft Model Law on Creative Industries, which aims to facilitate the creation of systematic support measures for creative industry entities and ensure sustainable economic development, as well as the human capital development.
