Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs

On 20 November 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with high-level executives of the Ministry, welcomed Mr. Nirat Yoopakdee, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee members.

On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on Thailand's foreign policy, including outstanding issues, such as geopolitical competition, transboundary challenges, proactive economic diplomacy and people diplomacy, especially the protection of and assistance to Thai nationals overseas, as well as the issue of the Overlapping Claims Area (OCA). The Foreign Minister underscored the foreign policy approach on proactive diplomacy with the Thai people and national interests as its centre. He also reiterated Thailand's position on not becoming a part of any conflict by fostering good relations with all countries.

In addition, both sides agreed to continue working closely to advance foreign policy for the tangible benefits of Thailand and the Thai people.
