Ways to Beat the High Summer Heat

As temperatures rise, they can present a challenge to enjoying the high heat. While the summer season brings plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, sometimes it's just too hot. On the days when the temperature spikes, here are some ideas to stay cool and still have fun.

1. Make a splash at the community pool

Making a trip to the pool is the quintessential activity on hot summer days for a reason. If you live in a Lennar neighborhood that offers a community pool, don't let it go to waste. Pools were made for scorching, summer days and are a great way to take a break from the home for a few hours. Before you leave for your swim, remember to apply water-resistant sunscreen, a hat for sun protection and a towel to dry off.

2. Cool off with a homemade sweet treat

Stay out of the sun and entertain the family with an adventure to the kitchen. Transform your kitchen into your very own ice cream parlor and gather ingredients to create homemade ice cream. For vanilla ice cream, all you need are 4 simple ingredients: pure vanilla extract, milk, sugar and heavy whipping cream. For additional fun, toss in chocolate syrup, sprinkles or other tasty toppings.

Looking for something a little more nutritional? Explore the world of homemade fruit popsicles. Blend your choice of fruit with your choice of natural fruit juice or Greek yogurt. Once smooth, pour the mixture into popsicle molds. Ice trays and toothpicks can work as an alternative as well.

No matter which treat you choose, Lennar's stainless-steel refrigerators come equipped with ample space for all the desserts you need. Not only do Lennar kitchens have brand-new, modern appliances, their open-concept layouts create the perfect space for gatherings to spend time with loved ones.

3. Schedule outdoor activities after peak hours

Avoid sweat and sunburns by opting to step out during cooler hours instead. Even on the hottest days, it's important to get some fresh air and do so in a way that's both safe and enjoyable.

Check the temperatures in your area and make a note of when those temperatures usually drop. The early mornings and evenings will likely you give you enough sunlight to enjoy without the sweltering heat. In the mornings, walk around your neighborhood or a park, and in the evenings take the family for a casual bike ride or another outdoor activity that isn't always possible during midday.

4. Host a movie marathon or go to the movies

When the sun is at its highest peak and being outside is out of the question, movies can be your ultimate summer escape. Throw some popcorn in the microwave, close the curtains and settle into your couch to lose yourself in a new storyline.

This low-effort activity allows you to recharge and enjoy quality time indoors. By creating a dark, cool environment, you can escape the intensity of the sun while immersing yourself in a cinematic experience. Invite friends over or keep the occasion to just your household.

Itching to leave the house? The movie theater is a refuge where you can revel in a large space where the air conditioning is on full blast. Whether you opt for a double feature at home or a trip to the theater, this activity will keep you out of the sizzling heat on a hot summer day.
