Strengthening Counterterrorism Efforts in Iraq with Forensic Police Training

Enhancing Counterterrorism Capacity Through International Collaboration.

CT JUST, part of FPI's efforts to tackle global and transregional threats, successfully concluded its extensive Forensic Police Training Cycle in Iraq, completing over 100 hours of training aimed at professionalizing crime scene management under international standards. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, represents a significant step forward in strengthening the counterterrorism capabilities of Iraqi police forces.

Key Highlights

  • High-Level Expertise: The final week of training, held in Baghdad from 24 to 28 November, brought together 50 Iraqi Ministry of Interior officers and experts from Spain's National Police, INTERPOL Spain, Italy's Carabinieri Corps, and others.
  • Focus Areas: Sessions covered judicial standards, evidence management, and international legal frameworks, emphasizing the importance of protecting human rights in counterterrorism.
  • Future Exchange: A study visit to Spain's National Police facilities in December will further deepen knowledge transfer and international cooperation.

FPI's Role in Global Security

CT JUST is one of several initiatives led by FPI dedicated to addressing global and transregional threats through capacity-building and cooperation. This project exemplifies FPI's commitment to enhancing security and justice across regions, from counterterrorism to organised crime, while fostering deeper collaboration with international partners.
