Downtown Street Resurfacing Begins Monday, July 8

The City will begin a resurfacing project on the downtown streets listed below on Monday, July 8. The work will be done between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete. In addition to resurfacing, the project scope includes a series of safety improvements, including high-visibility crosswalks, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, upgraded bike lane facilities and concrete pedestrian refuge islands at W Broad Street and Westfield Street and W Washington Street and Laurens Street.

  • W Washington Street (Richardson St to N Main St)
  • W Broad Street (McBee Ave to S Main St)
  • Falls Street (E Broad St to McBee Ave)
  • E Broad Street (McDaniel Ave to W Broad St)

The work is expected to occur in the order listed above; however, there will be times when work is occurring on more than one street at a time. Lane closures will be necessary but flaggers will be on-site to guide drivers around the work zones.
