Shawmut Avenue Resurfacing Project - Construction Update

On Friday, August 23, Shawmut Avenue traffic patterns will be impacted by construction activity which will limit traffic to one lane for a majority of the day. All street surface work is expected to be completed by end of day Friday, with grinding and binder course being placed on the road surface.

Those who normally utilize Shawmut Avenue near the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad crossing are encouraged to seek alternate routes during tomorrow's planned construction activities and the resurfacing expected next week. As a reminder, motorists should obey all construction signage and flaggers through the work zone.

The timing of construction activities is variable and weather dependent. Construction activities are expected to continue for approximately two more weeks before the final street resurfacing and striping will be complete.
