Weekend Lane Closures on SR 61/Dallas Hwy in Douglas Co for Resurfacing Project
ATLANTA METRO - Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will install lane closures on State Route 61/Dallas Highway (SR 61) this weekend to begin a resurfacing project on SR 61 between the Douglas/Carroll County line and the Paulding/Douglas County line. Resurfacing improves the condition of the deteriorating roadway and provides a smother ride for drivers.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, single lane closures will be installed on SR 61 eastbound and westbound within the project limits beginning 8 p.m. on Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3 until 6 a.m. the following mornings. Flaggers will also be on-site to assist traffic flow through the closures. These closures will help ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews begin milling, inlay and resurfacing operations on the roadway.
This $426,000 project is scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and use signed detours, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
