Tuskegee University is hosting its fall Open House Oct. 19 to welcome students and parents interested in attending Tuskegee and partnering with the City of Tuskegee and Moton Field Municipal Airport to give them a treat of a lifetime. The students will also enjoy the football game at Abbott Stadium, which kicks off at 1 p.m.

"Fall Open House gives us an opportunity to showcase our degree programs as well as the Tuskegee Experience new students enjoy," said Dr. Courtney Griffin, Director of Admissions. "This year, our partnership with the City allows students who may be interested in enrolling in our aviation degree program an opportunity to witness aviation excellence in person."

Students and their families who attend Open House, will be able to participate in the first Military Appreciation fly-in. The airport gates will be open to the general public and Tuskegee Students from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Moton Field. Events will kick off with static displays of military aircraft from Air Force Special Operations, Alabama National Guard, and the Full Throttle Formation Team. The Full Throttle Formation Team and many other organizations will showcase their aircraft and aviation centric organizations with a fly-in at Moton Field Municipal.

"Air Force Special Operations will discuss the careers and pathways to becoming an Air Commando, an elite and dedicated team capable of projecting Airpower, Any Time, Any Place for U.S. Special Operations," said Tuskegee's Major Scott Dolar, Operations Officer, AFROTC.

Tuskegee University's Athletic Department has sponsored the Full Throttle Formation Team, which will host a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math-focused event that includes a walk around the aircraft and in-depth discussions about their all "home-built" experimental aircraft and discuss how to get an aviation career off the ground. Then between 11:15 am and 11:45 am the formation team will demonstrate their precision formation flying over Moton Field.

Open House participants can receive lunch vouchers for a fly-in lunch at the airport. Buses will provide transportation between Tuskegee University and Moton Field from the Open House event at 10 a.m. and drop off Open House participants at the football field by 12:45 p.m. for the game.

"This Open House is special in many ways," said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. "First amongst those is this year's opportunity to showcase the intersection of Tuskegee's aviation history, the U.S. Air Force, add the student academic and student support. A student can learn to fly, get a degree, and then be offered multiple pathways in which to use the high demand skill."

The Full Throttle Formation Team will perform their iconic fly-in after the national anthem at 1 p.m. at Abbott Field with their 12 aircraft formation team.
