Spokesperson's Press Briefing (July 16, 2024)

Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Soosuk Lim

July 16, 2024 14:30 KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul will have a meeting with Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly on July 18.

The meeting comes about a week after the summit between the leaders of the two countries held on the sidelines of the recent NATO Summit.

The two countries have actively continued high-level exchanges since the bilateral relations were upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.

The two Foreign Ministers will discuss ways to reinforce progress in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, build partnerships in security and the defense industry, and work together during Korea's chairship of APEC and Canada's presidency of the G7 in 2025, as well as regional and global situations, including on the Korean Peninsula and in Ukraine.

(A question-and-answer session followed.)
