Welcome to ASRM's Advocacy in Action, where we give an overview of what our Government Affairs team has been working on, summarize relevant federal and state legislation, and highlight the advocacy and outreach efforts of our members. We are so thankful for the advocacy of our members; please get in touch with the Office of Public Affairs at [email protected] for more information on ways to get involved.

  • We are awaiting final passage of the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act, which sets policy for the Department of Defense's activities. The House-passed version includes a pilot project that will make gamete cryopreservation available for some active-duty military personnel.
  • A pending bill in New Jersey will expand Medicaid coverage for fertility preservation services in the state if passed. Thank you to Assemblymembers Margie Donlon (D-11), Lisa Swain (D-38), and John Allen (D-32) for their leadership in sponsoring this bill and our New Jersey coalition for their tremendous efforts on the ground!
  • ASRM Chief Advocacy & Policy Officer Sean Tipton joined IFFS for a webinar on driving fertility policy change on December 12.
  • ASRM supports the National Academies on Science, Engineering, and Medicine's call for increased funding for women's health research. Read our full statement here.
  • SREI President Dr. Erica Johnstone spoke with Fortune Well for an article on infertility rates, causes of infertility, and the politicization of the disease. Read it in full here.
