According to Bloomberg, Cargill Inc., the world's largest agricultural commodities trader, is cutting thousands of jobs globally after the company missed profit targets . . . Agriculture Dive reported the world's largest pork producer, WH Group in China, is looking to spin off its U.S. operations. WH Group acquired Smithfield in 2013 for $4.7 billion . . . The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service said laying hens in Nebraska in October totaled 8.6 million hens and egg production totaled 218 million . . . A federal judge ruled an Arkansas law banning foreign land ownership is "probably unconstitutional" . . . Tyson Foods is closing three U.S. processing plants including its plant in Emporia, Kansas, which processes seasoned and marinated proteins and ground beef . . . The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) announced it has detected two cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in poultry flocks in Nebraska. The first case was detected in a commercial turkey flock in Nemaha County and the second was detected in a small backyard chicken flock in Dodge County.
