Male Stabbed with Corkscrew After Altercation in Downtown Seattle

Seattle Police arrested a man after stabbing another following an altercation in Downtown Seattle, Sunday afternoon.

At 5:19 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of three people fighting in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue in City Hall Park. Police arrived and located a victim bleeding from a stab wound to his chest.

The 50-year-old man was treated by the Seattle Fire Department for non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspect, 52, accused the victim of stealing his backpack. This triggered the altercation and assault. The waiter's corkscrew believed to be used in the assault was recovered as evidence.

Officers contacted a 49-year-old witness and determined that she had a no-contact order against the suspect. She was not injured during this incident.

The man was arrested and booked into King County Jail for Assault 1st Degree, Violation of a No Contact Order, and an arrest warrant for domestic violence Assault 4th Degree.

Detectives with the Homicide & Assault Unit are investigating this case.
